When we moved here 6 years ago, unbeknowest to us we had a duck and eggs behind a bush.
What a morning that was to wake up to mom duck, drake and 13 ducklings in the pool!
The 'pool' guys could not resurface the pool due to the fact they are 'federal proctect'. We all had to wait a few weeks for eggs to hatch. Once they did DH built a ramp. She showed them how to follow her out of the pool (using the ramp), walk around and jump back in the water. This went on for about an hour. The we opened the back fence door...and out they went to a near by park with a pond!
This went on for 3 years. Then...once the neighbor got a cat and the following year we got Sophie they stop coming.
Well....today they came by...for a visit!

How lovely to have a female duck visit you every year, I hope the cat stays away.

watch where you walk. We named an Easter Duck “Hubcap” because it swam in one as a duckling....eventually a coyote got him...when he was a teenager...very sad day on the ranch.

It was nice they visited but didn't stay? Kind of like relatives, it's great they come and visit but it's even better when they leave???
